Engine or Transmission Bad?

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, June 13, 2013

DamageMAX pays top dollar for cars with bad engines and transmissions.

Lets face it folks, you can research all the guidebooks you want and justify to someone else why your car is worth repairing but if it seems like a bad idea to you, why would they buy it to fix it? They won't! Don't try to sell it yourself! Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation by calling DamageMAX. We pay top dollar for vehicles with damaged drivetrains and we come to you. That means CASH and FREE TOWING.

Also, trying to sell a damaged car online using an illustration with KBB as the starting point then deducting the cost of the repair to come up with your selling price expectation DOES NOT compute. If you want a real price quotation on a vehicle with a damaged engine or transmission, call the pros – DamageMAX. We guarantee our prices for up to 7 days and back up everything we quote.

It's time to set the record straight

  • KBB does not value damaged cars, we do!
  • KBB has never written a check for a car and never will
  • KBB does not have adjustments for blown engines or transmissions
  • KBB assumes your vehicle is in proper working order
  • KBB allows for conservative grades of condition

You can't fool a used car buyer into paying KBB for a used vehicle. Would you pay KBB for a used car on a dealership lot?

The answer is NO so why ask someone else to do what you wouldn't?

You time is valuable, spend it wisely and leave the dirty work to the pros. Let us make your vehicle problems disappear and turn that useless car into cash. Call 888 629-2137 for a guaranteed price quote or visit www.damagemax.com today for more info.

Insurance Company Offers to "almost" Total Your Vehicle

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, June 12, 2013

How does this sound?

You have a 2002 Honda CRV AWD in great shape with 102,000 miles on it and you have a front end collision. The damage looks pretty severe but the airbags did not go off. Your vehicle is towed from the scene, you get a ride home and you call your insurance company. They give you your claim number and tell you they will estimate the damage on the vehicle and call you back in a couple of days. They finally complete the estimate and call you back to advise you that the vehicle will be a "total loss" but they give you two prices?

Two prices? Why two prices you ask the adjuster? If its a total loss, you should pay me fair market value for my car (aka RETAIL VALUE which insurance companies refer to as Actual Cash Value – ACV, because they don't want to pay you retail). Why would they give you a second number?

  1. The first number is what they will pay you to settle your total loss claim if THEY keep your wreck.
  2. The second number is what they will pay you for it, if YOU keep your wreck.

Why would you ever keep your wrecked vehicle? If you're not an auto body mechanic or closely related to one, the repairs are very expensive!

The first reason they give you two numbers is to focus your attention on the opportunity of keeping your wreck instead of the settlement offer, which is usually below retail value. Don't get confused here, they decisioned your vehicle for a total loss settlement. Tackle that first and make certain that you are getting the most that you can for the vehicle. Our advice is never to accept less than NADA book value which can be researched free of charge at http://www.nadaguides.com/. Fight for all you can, do not accept the first offer! Once you are satisfied with a settlement value, if you want to consider keeping your wrecked vehicle, then do so.

The second reason they do this is to make the car go away – literally! If you keep your wrecked vehicle, that is a great outcome for the insurance carrier because they can close out the claim faster, save auction processing fees to dispose of your vehicle, save on rental vehicle expenses and send you down the road. None of the savings are passed on to you by the way.

It perplexes me why an insurance company would want to intentionally steer a consumer into buying (in their words "retaining") a wrecked vehicle. Insurance companies are risk averse by nature and it makes no sense to "sell" the vehicle that they literally just bought from you because it was damaged beyond repair??? Seems somewhat hypocritical…especially when they will brand your title as "salvage". Friends, a salvage title means the vehicle is worth half (50%) of what it would be worth if it had a clean title. That is a best case scenario. Usually it's closer to 40%. And don't forget that your repaired "wreck" will have accident history and that pesky little fox (CarFax) will make sure that nobody will ever buy this thing from you.

In summary, buying a wrecked vehicle is a BAD IDEA. Buying your wrecked vehicle from the insurance company is a WORSE IDEA.

DamageMAX buys any damaged car, anywhere for top dollar. Even if we can't buy your vehicle, we will shoot you straight and tell you what the fair market value is on the spot. Besides, would you rather have cash or the damaged car? Seems like an easy decision for us…

We Total any Car

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, June 11, 2013

You just had an accident and got more bad news…your insurance company decided to repair your vehicle instead of total it. Instead of getting a check, now you have to write one for the $1500 deductible, plus you are going to be without a vehicle for two weeks with no rental car reimbursement – more out of pocket expenses!!! If you only had another alternative…

STOP – DO NOT FIX YOUR DAMAGED VEHICLE!

DamageMAX will total your car immediately. There are no charges or hidden fees. Here is how it works:

  1. Send us a copy of your collision repair estimate
  2. Send us pictures of your vehicle along with a brief description
  3. DamageMAX will make an offer to purchase your wrecked vehicle "as-is"
  4. Sell your WRECK and keep the repair CHECK

That's right friends, you will get 2 checks instead of just one and you will be out of that wrecked vehicle and on your way to buying a new vehicle within hours. It's easier than you think and a much better financial option than PAYING to fix your wrecked vehicle.

You just wrecked your car, don't wreck your bank account – get money for your damaged vehicle and keep the insurance repair check.

What Should You Do if You Wreck Your Vehicle without Insurance coverage?

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, June 06, 2013

Whether you choose to sell or repair your vehicle, the key is to make a fast, deliberate decision about what to do with the vehicle and keep the storage charges to a bare minimum.

The storage yard is the enemy of the consumer with a damaged vehicle. It is their job to get as much of your money as they can and prevent you from getting your car back. Storage yards are predatory by nature but DamageMAX is their only natural enemy! Folks, the storage industry does not like DamageMAX and they do not want you to sell us your vehicle because it is bad for their business. The average storage and tow bill paid by INSURANCE COMPANIES is almost $500. Insurance companies have literally thousands of employees and vendors working to make sure your vehicle gets off the clock at the storage yard. If you don't have insurance coverage, nobody is on your side. The insurance company can't help you and once the storage yard finds out that you have no coverage, you are going to get sacked – big time! We see it every single day, hundreds of times a day!

What can you do?

First, if you wreck your vehicle, DO NOT tell the storage yard anything! It is not their business if you have coverage. Take charge and be decisive.

Second, call DamageMAX immediately for a fast, free price quote. We will buy any damaged vehicle, anywhere and we will take your car out of storage and tow it for free. We even pay the storage charges when we buy your car!

Third, don't procrastinate ! Your car is wrecked and you need to make a decision TODAY – fix it or sell it! DamageMAX can help make that decision quick and easy by consulting with you – absolutely free! Engine or Transmission Bad?

Joseph Coupal - Friday, May 31, 2013

Don't spend thousands fixing a worn out vehicle,
sell it to DamageMAX as-is and get yourself a new ride!

If your car is older than 2005 or has more than 85,000 miles, chances are its worth more "as-is" than the cost of the repair itself!

When a vehicle is sold for parts, the most sought after components are the engine and the transmission. First off, they make the car "move" and give the vehicle it's value. As a rule, a vehicle that can be used for transportation is always worth more than a vehicle that will be sold for parts. When the engine or transmission go bad, your out-of-pocket investment is several thousand dollars just to make it worth "average" book value. If your vehicle has a bad engine or a bad transmission, you can throw "book value" out the window – its a parts car!

If you don't owe any money on the vehicle you still have equity, even if it's inoperable. Just because it doesn't drive, doesn't mean it's not worth anything. DamageMAX pays top dollar for damaged, broken and inoperable vehicles anywhere. Here's a great example:

2003 Nissan Murano SL – bad transmission

Value of your car with bad transmission = $0
Cost of used Transmission = $3000
Value after repair = ?
DamageMAX Purchase Price = $3,100

EASY CHOICE! Sell your car to DamageMAX!

DamageMAX buys broken vehicles for top dollar and we can help get your last bit of equity from that older high mileage car.

Why Everyone Hates Storage Yards

Joseph Coupal - Friday, May 24, 2013

If there ever was an industry that needs a makeover, it's the towing and storage industry.

Talk about despicable people doing unethical things to the american public. Not just the public, the government, insurance companies, banks, rent-a-car companies, etc. If you can drive it, ride it or fly it, these people will find a way to weasel their way into your life and seize your vehicle asset and hold you hostage. What adds insult to injury is that these agencies are sanctioned by local government municipalities to commit the offenses that we all must tolerate. More specifically, these folks have a license to a certain stretch of roadway and can charge exorbitant tow fees, admin fees, storage fees, impound fees, usage fees and they even make up information to get more money from you. Some cities give these operations the right to demand cash and then coyly tell you too bad! Cash payment required or we just keep your car and "oh by the way, we are gonna keep charging you $50 per day until you come up with the cash". What about people that don't have collision coverage and can't produce the cash to get their car our of storage? What is their option? They can't use a credit card even?

Their option is to "lose their vehicle to the storage yard"! Yes folks, it happens thousands of times per day and millions of times per year. Many people are forced to walk away from their vehicle in favor of relief from storage and the government enables this whole process.

Something has to change and that change is DamageMAX!

DamageMAX is dedicated to helping consumers with damaged & broken vehicles and we are the rival of the storage yard. DamageMAX will get you cash for your vehicle and get your car out of storage but we can't help if you don't act quickly. Arm yourself for a quick decision with DamageMAX. Don't get ripped off by a storage yard!

Who Says Crime Doesn't Pay? Highway Robbery in Houston

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, May 23, 2013

Just yesterday we bought a customer's wrecked Volvo in Housto. He had no collision coverage and his vehicle was towed from the scene via police dispatch. We consulted with the customer and agreed upon a purchase price for his wrecked car in minutes and started working on the release of the vehicle. Storage & tow yards in Houston are known for their predatory business practices with consumers, but what we experienced was outrageous!

The owner of the vehicle went down to the shop to pay the charges and get the vehicle released. After signing the proper forms, he was told that he had to pay several hundred dollars in tow & storage charges and once he did so, he would have one hour to remove the vehicle from the property?

He asked what it would cost if he could have until noon the next day and he was told he would have to pay $150 more?

Storage yards in Houston have been given the right to gouge consumers, it seems ,as these rates & practices are sanctioned by the local jurisdiction.

While Houston is "the extreme" and one of the worst places in the country to wreck your vehicle, storage yards have been taking advantage of consumers, banks and insurance companies for years. They tow your vehicle and hold it hostage for cash payment and use predatory business tactics to get more money by refusing to release your vehicle. They do everything they can to let the storage bill mount and then demand payment. Many unfortunate consumers have no choice but to abandon the vehicle to the storage yard in exchange for relief from these charges. Most of the time, the vehicle is worth SIGNIFICANTLY more than the storage bill, or the storage yard is charging more than the legal daily limit. We have seen fabricated charges, exorbitant administrative fees, documentation fees, etc. Whatever it takes to steal your wrecked or damaged vehicle and take it to the bank!

DamageMAX is dedicated to helping consumers get cash for wrecked vehicles and we can help you beat the storage yards.

Call DamageMAX for a fast, free price quote and we can tow your car out of the storage yard, absolutely free!

Don't get taken by a storage yard! Fight back with DamageMAX and get the last laugh!

Your Wrecked Car is Not Junk

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Most people today really don't understand that their damaged or broken car is a valuable asset, even at the end of it's life. Hence the name, end-of-life vehicles or ELV's.

ELV's can be worth hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars and people don't know it! Most of the time, damaged vehicles are abandoned to a tow or scrap yard, or the body shop in favor of relief from storage when the broken vehicle is worth more by the pound than the tow and storage bill. Older damaged vehicles may be worth significantly more than that for the frame and VIN if sought after by collectors or someone restoring that particular type of vehicle. Later model vehicles are typically in higher demand for their undamaged components and power train if still usable.

Here is a quick guideline

Domestic Vehicles
2002 & older = $250 - $5,000
2003 – current = $1,500 and UP

Import Vehicles
2000 & Older = $250 - $7,500
2001 – current = $2,500 and UP

Drivable vehicles are worth $ more

If the vehicle has less than 100,000 miles there is a good chance that it will get fixed and put back on the road. Some vehicles are repaired with significantly more mileage if those vehicles are newer and have a substantial resale value like luxury and performance cars. There is a diminishing return that deters automobile dealers from making these repairs if the mileage is high. Mileage is the key measurement for a vehicles age and expected service life. Other factors like accident history, title brands like flood, salvage or theft and overall condition will weigh heavily on what your vehicle can be sold for in damaged condition.

The key to selling any vehicle is to find the best audience for what you have to offer. For damaged, broken and inoperable vehicles, DamageMAX is your source. DamageMAX pays MAXimum value for damaged vehicles.
